TCM - Training Christians for Ministry

STW Testimonials

I, Kylene, did not know much about TCM prior to signing up as a short-term worker. Through the website, I learned about TCM’s impact across Eastern Europe and beyond. I previously served on short-term teams that traveled to countries in Eastern Europe and saw the desperate need for Christ's love to be spread there. I was excited to contribute to this goal however I could.

From the moment we arrived, the attitude of service was infectious. In our jet-lagged stupor, our bags were taken to our rooms and a warm lunch was served. Haus Edelweiss is the Body of Christ at work. There are teachers and pastors, students and missionaries, maintenance and kitchen crews, all serving together to love God and love others. While preparing a meal, I could have looked at it as just another daily task. Instead, by witnessing the love in the preparation, I came to see how a meal can show someone who lives half a world away that we are all “in it together.”

"God is everywhere."  As the second of the trio (Cassie), I had only known this fact in my head.  I met and worked with various parts of the body of Christ and served others while staying at Haus Edelweiss.  I am awed by the way that God is at work in all parts of the world.  To get to see some of the hands, feet and faces that He uses everyday to pursue His purpose in the world was a picture of heaven.  We did not always understand each other but the joy of smiles and strength of voices lifted in song (especially the line "Take joy my King in what You hear, may it be a sweet, sweet sound in Your ear" sung in several languages) left a lasting impression of the power of the Gospel.

This is Kara and I write this knowing that words on a page only have so much impact. Yet, when you see the face of the people who are daily experiencing adversity for Christ, service takes on a whole new meaning. Serving these soldiers for Christ at Haus Edelweiss was one of the most rewarding and humbling experiences of my life. Every day we got the opportunity to make sure that their studies were top priority. I served on the guest services team where we cleaned, organized, and set up for the students. The gratefulness of the students awed me. They did not believe they were entitled to anything, but were so thankful to be able to experience service. In their countries, many are faced with suffering and ridicule because of their love for Christ. But at the Haus they are surrounded by love from others. I am so thankful I got to be a part of something that affects Christianity around the world.

At this point, it is safe to say that "The Sisters" will be forever transformed by what we experienced at Haus Edelweiss in just a few short weeks.
