To a child it's normal that God
Would come to the garden
At the end of the day
For a walk together.
GUIDANCE
But we grow up and ask ourselves,
"Why would God do that?"
After all, He is busy.
The universe does not revolve around us.
How arrogant to believe He would come
Just to walk and talk with us.
How childish!
PERSPECTIVE
But there is hope that at some point
We enter our "second childhood."
The simplicity beyond complexity.
The place where we obediently walk with Him
In simple, childlike faith,
Believing again the words of Jesus in John 14:23:
"If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching.
My Father will love him,
And we will come to him and make our home with him" (NIV).
STRENGTH FOR THE JOURNEY
Believing again that the universe does indeed
Revolve around us.
Not because we are smart, productive, or deserving,
But simply because we are beloved children
Of a loving Father
Who happens also to be God of the universe.
