Fred and Carolyn Brasher have been involved with TCM as donors and volunteers for 30 years. Soon after their first trip to Haus Edelweiss, Fred was so taken by the work and mission of TCM that he agreed to serve on the Board of Directors. His leadership and commitment have been very valuable in helping to position TCM as a respected and fiscally sound mission organization. |
What about TCM compelled you to become involved as donors and volunteers?
In 1978, we were blessed to have the opportunity to witness firsthand the outreach of TCM in assisting and encouraging underground churches in communist-dominated Hungary, Yugoslavia, and Czechoslovakia. Our involvement has continued (and increased) over the years because we see TCM as a highly efficient mission organization that is getting the Word out to more and more countries (including Muslim dominated ones). TCM is fulfilling its mission by training Christian national leaders who know the languages and cultures, and are able to have an immediate impact in their own countries and thus in the advancement of the Kingdom. We believe there is no better way to carry out missions. Those doing the training are impressive as well, and include some of the best professors from U.S. Bible colleges. |
What do you believe you have received through your involvement with TCM?
We have the satisfaction of knowing that our resources of time and money are being used very effectively to expand God’s Kingdom on earth. Through Fred’s involvement on the Board, it has been exciting and rewarding for us to see God’s hand in the growth of TCM’s graduate study program from inception in 1990 to accreditation in 2008. |
How do TCM’s vision and values align with your personal values?
Since TCM’s vision and values align with God’s, they align with ours. They focus on the Genesis-to-Revelation theme, which is to reach as many people as possible with the Good News. |
Why was including TCM in your estate plan important to you?
We have been blessed in so many ways throughout our lives. For us, having a plan for our estate through a Living Trust, is a way for us to steward that with which God has entrusted us. Our estate plan also allows us to make an investment in the future that will have a lasting impact for Christ. Since we do not have children, our estate will go to Christian organizations. TCM will be the primary recipient since our close relationship with the mission allows us to feel assured that funds will be used wisely. |
What do you hope others could experience through their involvement with TCM?
We think everyone who is physically able should serve a two-week stint as a Short-term Worker at Haus Edelweiss in Austria. We’ve heard people say it was one of the greatest experiences they ever had. STWs get to work hard in a gorgeous setting; get to know dedicated Christian students, professors, and staff; and just generally be uplifted through the Spirit. And except for airfare, it’s all free. After being there and seeing the work being done firsthand, one cannot help but want to be a significant supporter. |
