Dear Friend,

Okay. I understand that Jesus did
not have a Ph.D.
However, does that mean he was not as smart as Einstein or as wise as Solomon?
If he was indeed the brightest and wisest ever to grace the planet, it follows that we ignore His commands to our peril.

GUIDANCE
"All power in heaven and earth has been given unto me.  As you are going, MAKE DISCIPLES of all the ethnic groups.  Immersing them into the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Teaching them to keep strictly everything that I have commanded you.  And surely I am with you always even to the very end of the age" (Matthew 28:18-20).

PERSPECTIVE
There is but one command in the Great Commission.  Of course there are means to accomplish that command.  But any time we elevate means to the level of commands, we don't just let the tail wag the dog.  We begin the process of absolutizing the relative.  Majoring in minors.  Setting the good up on the altar reserved for the best.

Evil always follows.

DISCIPLE MAKING is the one command in the commission.  Of course we do this in His power.  As we are going.  By immersing others into His family name and modeling complete obedience as a living power point.  In His presence always.

However, He gives but one imperative among the participles and prepositions.  One focus to steady our step and chart our course.

THE MAIN THING.
STRENGTH FOR THE JOURNEY
We don't ordinarily set out toward Sodom.  We usually just drift that direction.  By not keeping the main thing THE MAIN THING.  In His last will and testament, He gave us a very simple, visual, and clear command:    MAKE DISCIPLES

When we elevate our going, we get lost.  When we elevate our name, we become divisive.  When we elevate our teaching, we are disobedient.

On the other hand....

When life becomes centered around making disciples for His Kingdom, it puts our going, growing and mentoring into healthy perspective.  It keeps us focused on His imperative.

In this way we can more freely obey His command.
