| Dear Friend, |
|
Both had no hope left. One was younger and one older. The younger had a father advocating for her health care. The older had no resources remaining. She was on her own.
And both needed immediate care.

| GUIDANCE |
"Who touched me?" Jesus asked (Luke 8:45).
|
| PERSPECTIVE |
Sometimes prayer is like an outstretched hand. Desperately reaching for something just beyond the finger tips. Not knowing what else to do but reach. Maybe in previous pleas the hand has returned untouched. Hope wanes. Wondering all while, "Can I really get to Him?"

| STRENGTH FOR THE JOURNEY |
|
He's on His way to heal a twelve-year old daughter. The only child of an important official. Crowds crushing and people pushing. An urgent rush to get there ahead of death.
The woman had suffered for twelve years. No one had been able to help her. No money left. No advocate in the crowd. Her last hope being pushed out of reach. How could she compete with the young daughter of a synagogue ruler?
One last time she reached out. One final stretch into the crowd. Did she really feel something? The seething stopped. And the young daughter died.
"Who touched me?" Jesus asked.
All she wanted was to quietly slip away. Must everyone know? She was the one who stopped the procession to save the child. Her healing had come. But what about the mission to save the young girl? He spoke to her deepest fear.
"Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace."
What? Could it really be? Had He really used that word? She too was a daughter!! Here was her protector and provider who would take care of her. She could go away with full health. In peace. But what about the little girl?
"Don't be afraid," she heard Him tell the anxious crowd, "just believe and she will be healed."
What blessed peace! She could go home. Knowing that the younger daughter was loved as much as she was.
