| Dear Friend, |
|
Welcome to the GPS Journal. About every fortnight or so, I would like to touch base with you. With some brief thoughts and prayers that I hope our Heavenly Father will use to bless us with Guidance, Perspective and Strength for the Journey. The table is ready and the gate is open. So, together in Him, let's begin.

| GUIDANCE |
|
They asked each other, "Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?" (Luke 24:32 NIV)
|
| PERSPECTIVE |
"You created everything, sovereign Lord, for your glory. You gave to everyone food and drink that they might enjoy it and thank you for it. Now to us you have given the blessing of spiritual nourishment to prepare us for eternal life, through Jesus your Son and your servant. Amen."
(A prayer from the late first or early second century-Didache 10)

| STRENGTH FOR THE JOURNEY |
The two trudged the weary path toward a place called home. Downcast, they told their tale to a traveler who fell in step. A friend had been murdered. A good man, stricken down in his prime. His destroyed potential, a tragic loss to many, left behind a crushing grief. They trudged onward toward the night.
Their heavy hearts wept for hope aborted. Their burdened spirits found no relief. Their sagging faith explored the bottom. The traveler spoke, but their preoccupations kept him distant.
They did not hear his words of consolation. The best they could do was invite him to their humble table. Then, He blessed the bread. His grace, fitting and good, touched their hearts. Their downcast hearts finally looked upward. And they beheld Him for the first time.
In His grace, the dikes protecting their fragile spirits crumbled. In flooded a healing torrent. They rushed back to the path.
This time, however, it was different. Even the night could not dim their spirits. Their soaring spirits hastened them on the journey. They sought community. They needed a place to confess wholeheartedly: "It is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon." (Luke 24:34, NIV)
For almost two thousand years now we have travelled weary paths toward places we call home. Today we often find ourselves with heavy hearts, crushed spirits, and a weary faith. Preoccupations still keep Him distant. With the dust from the Emmaus path still on their exhausted feet, those seekers welcomed His blessing at their table.
In His good grace, He resurrected their lives. Their weary walk then became a majestic march toward family. And ours can today.
Together let's look up to His Grace. He still journeys on our path, blesses our table, and guides us home. Can't wait to see you on the way!
